Showing a Shire can be trickier than you expect, so if you need a hand getting started, Ineke may be able to help you out. She is extremely experienced in preparing and showing Shires and Clydesdales and is able to attend shows with you to show you the ropes.

$150/show (depending on travel time)

Handling lessons

Even Shires, aka ‘gentle giants’, can be difficult to handle from time to time. If you are having trouble with your horse, whether it be loading on a float, leading or picking up feet, rest assured you are not alone, and Byron can probably help you out.

Plaiting lessons

Plaiting up a Shire or a Clydesdale can look very tricky when you only see the finished product. Ineke is Australia’s most experienced Shire plaiter and also excels at plaiting Clydesdales. She is able to give you one-on-one lessons in plaiting manes and tails, as well as help you out with equipment and ribbons, along with some insider tips.

Show preparation

For those who are keen on showing their Shire, there are many complexities that can be difficult to get to grips with. Ineke can give advice on the full range of tools, products and processes to get your horse to optimum show presentation.

Shire foals can be incredibly vulnerable during their birth and first few weeks of life. We can offer an experienced team to monitor your mare through foaling and provide the best care for your foal at and after birth.

We can only offer this service to a limited number of mares, dependent on their time of foaling, so please contact Ingleside for more information on the availability of this service.  We also offer foaling kits with a comprehensive set of notes to assist you in foaling your own mare.

Ingleside Shire Horse Stud

Thank you so much to Kazz and the team at Heavy Horse Heaven for offering to find our beloved old girl Rhiannon a retirement home.

She has always been the most wonderful mare and there were many tears shed by us today when we delivered her to HHH.

Since our move to Bredbo Rhainnon has found it very difficult here, especially in the winter where we regularly experience temperatures down to (and below) -10. We did not want to put her through another of our harsh winters at her advanced age.

We look forward to seeing her able to enjoy her twilight years in a more forgiving environment and hope she can bring joy and happiness to a new adoptive family.

She is, of course, always welcome back if it doesn't work out 💖

We knew that in looking for a new home she couldn't be in better hands than with the HHH team. The gates opened this morning and this mega sweet older lady came dancing in.

Welcome Rhiannon. 24 years and the most beautiful gentle darling you could meet.

We look forward to lots of pampering sessions and cuddles with you gorgeous 💕💕💕
